a little 'island' fun

The last 'part' of our 3rd day in the parks also came this time before we headed back to the hotel (this made for a long day at the park, but we wanted to get to bed at a reasonable time as we had early-entry in the park the next day). This time we went back over to Disneyland for a little more adventure.


On the way back in, we stopped for some more pictures.


And look who we met!


While Sean and Robb went to get FastPasses for the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad over in Frontierland for later, Mary & Kayl happened upon Aladdin and Princess Jasmine over in Adventureland. This completed Kayl's autographs from the Disney Princesses!


One of the things Mary & Robb hadn't gotten to do any of the times we've gone to Disneyland has been go across to Tom Sawyer Island in Frontierland. The attraction has always been closed for maintenance (and the building of Pirate's Lair). This time it was open, and not crowded!


The kids loved the caves, forts and treehouses of Pirate's Lair.

Hey! This thing is not real...

We didn't get pics, but next we went over to Critter Country to ride Splash Mountain and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Although Sean was game to try Splash Mountain, and was (barely) tall enough, he got the parent veto when we found out each person has their own seat, and there were no seat belts. (We weren't sure about him following the rules and staying in place.) Aw well, next time...

Then we headed back to Frontierland to use the FastPasses for the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. To make up for Splash Mountain, Sean got to sit up front with Kayl & Robb (Mary doesn't like fast, 'swervy' rides). Although he did fairly well, he spent part of the ride with his head squished in Robb's chest, and upon exiting was heard to exclaim, "That made my belly feel scary!"


One thing I haven't talked much about is money. The kids saved earnings from jobs both around and outside the house for 6 months to have spending cash on this trip. Sean had enough to allot himself $6 per day, and Kayl had enough to allot herself $10 per day. On day 1, Sean found this little Stitch robot that he just had to have. He had to save for 3 days from his daily allotment to buy it, but felt it was very worth it!
